History (Part 2)

So there I was, a full 10 years working with Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Japp Stam, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, the Neviles, to name but a few. This was in conjunction with my own 2 boys Michael and Steven who also were players at the club during the same time.

After all the years working with my boys since they were small kids and seeing their development, I was now working with players that had just won the treble and they were seeking my help to improve their capabilities. I showed the boys everything I knew and was able to showcase Michael and Steven in front of the squad at United, to show their capabilities.

They bought into the training because Roy Keane was the captain and he saw the potential the type of training had for Uniting the team and raising its physical capabilities. A most important fact was revealed that my training philosophy harnessed AGGRESSION, in its nature and this was a massive tool for mental and physical stimulation, but required someone who could control the environment that was beginning to develop in the gym.

Myself and Roy began our relationship with a simple cup of tea in the canteen at Carrington. THIS was the most important meeting I have ever had in my life. I asked Roy to explain to me the types of training he had done in the past, Roy said he had boxed as a young boy in Ireland and won some amateur boxing bouts, I slyly mentioned that he would be able to prove that to me quite soon when we arrive on the gym floor for training. Roy gave me that LOOK OF DEATH that he does best and went to get ready .

We engaged in some boxing type training designed for footballers, straight away I could see this man had fought and won many battles in and out of the ring and was a ferocious warrior battling in a football strip. We embarked on this mission and the whole team bought into what we were doing, which resulted with Roy making my job in the gym very stable.
